at a court held 4.1.1659 Ralph Josselin clerk was admitted to one croft of land customary called Stulpes adjoining a close called Sprigs Marsh now at this court it appeared that on 23.3.last the said Ralph surrendered by the hands of Jn Ludgater instead of the bailiff in the presence of Robt Potter and Humph Ruggles etc the lands to the use of his last will and it also appeared that he died afterwards upon which came Jane Josselin widow and relict of the said Ralph and showed in court the will dated 1.6.last the tenor concerning the premises in the following words I give to my wife Sprigs Marsh and also copyhold lands called Stulpes lying enclosed by the said marsh during the term of her natural life and after her decease to Eliz one of the daughters of the said Ralph wife of mr Gilb Smith her heirs and assigns forever and the said Jane was admitted for life etc and gave fine etc
