also at this court it is found by homage that on 29.3.last Oliver Johnson and Abigail his wife customary tenants of the manor out of court surrendered by rod into hands of lords by hand and acceptance of chief steward she Abigail being first privately examined by steward and consenting according to custom thereof all their messuage or tenement with buildings and appurtenances belonging called the Hayhouse with several pieces of land pasture and hopground containing 32a more or less and one piece meadow containing 3a more or less and Sladesland containing 8a more or less and 1a more in Longland and also two tenements adjoining together now called the Wick House and a toft of ground formerly three cottages and also all that their fifth part the whole into five equal parts to be divided of 6a of wood ground parcel of Cogges Grove lying next land called Colne Park and also four fifth parts of a messuage or tenement with barns stables orchards and gardens belonging and 26a land and 3a1r of meadow called Curds and three crofts of land called Barmanfields Rounsells and Pellsland containing by estimation 15a and also four fifths part of certain lands called Heathfield or Heathcroft Stonylane and Brookhouse Meadow lying in Earls Colne containing by estimation 20a with all appurtenances and all and singular of either of their customary messuages lands tenements and hereditaments held of the manor by copy of court roll the reversion and reversions remainder and remainders of all and singular said premises and all the estate right title interest property claim and demand whatever of them Oliver Johnson and Abigail his wife or either of them of and in same and every part and parcel thereof to use of Eliz Wale of Earls Colne spinster her heirs and assigns forever upon condition that if Oliver Johnson or Abigail his wife or either of them their or either of their heirs executors administrators or assigns or any of them should well and truly pay or cause to be paid to the said Eliz Wale her executors administrators or assigns the sum of 500li of money of Great Britain with legal interest for same on 30.9.next ensuing the day of the date thereof without any abatement or deduction then surrender to be void otherwise to remain absolute
