fine 3s4d to this court came Wm Atte Wode and surrendered into the hands of the lord two cottages with curtilage adjoining and with their appurtenances called Gosses lying between a messuage of the said Wm called Ballardes on one part and a messuage late of Thos Bonyles on the other part one head abutting upon the king's highway and the other head upon a croft late of Robt Segge to the use of Roger Deynes Robt Hyne and Hugh Palmere upon this condition however that the aforesaid Roger Robt and Hugh or their attorneys should pay or cause to be paid to the aforesaid Wm or his attorney 20li sterling viz at xmas.next 5marks sterling and at the feast of xmas then next following 4marks sterling and thus from year to year until the aforesaid 20li should be paid to whom the lord now at the court granted thereof seisin to hold to the same said Roger Robt and Hugh their heirs and assigns from the lord at the will of the lord by ancient services and customs etc and upon the aforesaid condition etc and if it should happen that the aforesaid Roger Robt and Hugh or their attorneys should default of the aforesaid sum of 20li sterling in part or in whole at any of the terms then the aforesaid Wm or his attorney should truly be allowed by licence of the lord to reenter into the aforesaid two cottages with curtilage and with their appurtenances and to hold them in his former estate notwithstanding this surrender otherwise it should stand in its force and vigour etc and they gave to the lord for a fine etc and made fealty
