fine 6s8dit is found by the homage that Edm Clerke that held to him and his heirs of the lord by the rod etc one croft of customary land with the appurtenances called Olivers Croft containing by estimation 2a of land or more or less as in the roll of the court here holden on monday being 11.4.17Eliz1 more at large appears died since the last court and before his death lying sick surrendered into the lord's hands by the hands of Robt Reade instead of the bailiff in the presence of Jn Barret and Wm Bunner the lord's customary tenants and others the same witnessing the foresaid croft with appurtenances to the use and performance of his last will and testament bearing date 19.12.19Eliz1 by which his last will among other things he gave and legacied the foresaid customary lands with the appurtenances in these english words following viz also I give to Margt my wife all my copyhold land with a barn thereunto belonging called Olivers to have and to hold both free and copy during her natural life to the bringing up of my children after her decease to remain to Jn Clerke my son and to the heirs of his body lawfully begotten and if it chance the foresaid Jn to die before he come to lawful age then I will the foresaid house and land to remain to Alice Clerke my daughter whereupon to this court came the foresaid Margt in her pure widowhood and craved to be admitted to the foresaid croft of land with appurtenances according to the form and effect of the surrender aforesaid to whom by the lord's steward there is seisin thereof delivered to have and to ho ld to the foresaid Margt for and during her natural life to remain after her decease to the said Jn Clerk according to the form and effect of the surrender aforesaid of the lord by the rod etc and he (sic) etc
