it was found in the last court with the leet of this year that Edm Potter took to him and his heirs of the surrender of Rich Prentice the moiety of one cottage with a curtilage called Coopes lying between the messuage sometime Steph Miller's of the one part and the garden late Jn Wright's of the other part one head thereof abutting upon the highway leading from Colne aforesaid towards Colchester and the reversion of the other moiety of the said cottage with a curtilage called Coopes lying at Collfordhill between the messuage sometime the said Steph Miller's of the one part and the garden late Jn Wright's of the other part one head thereof abutting upon the highway aforesaid when it shall happen by and after the death of Agnes Man the wife of Thos Man as it appeareth in the court with the leet of the 12Eliz1 and 29Eliz1 and also one parcel of land sometime of the lord's waste lying at Colfordhill aforesaid upon which one Wm Swattocke did lately build a swinesty containing in length 13ft and in breadth 12ft as appeareth in the court here holden the 19.6.12Eliz1 and now it is found by the homage of this court that the same Edw Potter afterward and before this court did surrender the premises unto the lord's hands the foresaid swinesty excepted by the hands of Edw Read instead of the bailiff in the presence of Jn Warde Rich Heywarde and Thos Bridge customary tenants of this manor the same witnessing to the use and behoof of Abrm Bridge and of his heirs to whom the lord by his steward delivered seisin of the premises except before excepted to have to him and his heirs to hold of the lord by the rod to the will of the lord and by the services aforesaid and did therefore make fine and fealty to the lord and so is admitted the lord's tenant
