it appears to the homage that Jn Gonner who held with Joan his wife to themselves and the heirs of the said Jn by the rod etc one piece of land now built on late parcel of land called Stacies containing by estimation 1r in two pieces of land enclosed by hedges and ditches and lying on the west part of land called Stacies and abutting on a way leading to a certain stile called Curdes Stile in the highway to Coggeshall as appears by the court roll of this court held thursday 20.8.26Eliz1 after the last court and out of court surrendered into the hands of the lord by the hands of Robt Reade instead of the bailiff in the presence of Jn Green and Jn Parker senior customary tenants of the lord witnessing the aforesaid piece of land with a cottage late built to the use of Rich Sampford his heirs and assigns forever which said Rich came into the court and prayed the lord to be admitted tenant to the premises by the effect of the surrender aforesaid and the lord by the steward delivered seisin to hold to himself his heirs and assigns of the lord by the rod to the will of the lord according to the custom of the manor by all rents and services owed and of right accustomed and gave the lord a fine 13s8d and made fealty and was admitted and afterwards at this court came the same Jn Gonner and Joan his wife and the said Joan secretly and solely examined by the steward according to the custom of the manor surrendered remised and released into the hands of the lord by the hands of the steward all the aforesaid piece of land with appurtenances and all right title claim interest and demand whatsoever to the work and use of the said Rich Sampford now in possession and to his heirs and assigns forever viz that the aforesaid Jn Gonner and Joan his wife or any in their name shall make any demand etc in the premises
