this indenture made 15.4.1729 witnesseth that Jn Hatch and Ambrose Towers churchwardens and Thos Sewell and Jn May overseers of the parish of Earls Colne with the consent of justices of the peace have put and placed Wm Sad a poor child of the parish apprentice to Jn Brock of Bocking bay weaver with him to dwell and serve from this day unto aged twenty four years (now aged 15years) during which term he shall serve his master etc and Jn Brock covenants to instruct him in the art of a bay weaver and lodge and feed him and keep the parishioners indemnified from charges and at the end of the term provide double apparel etc mark Jn Brock witnesses Isaac Potter Sam Burton justices of the peace Rich Androwes Jn Wale (there is another copy of this with the following witnesses mark Wm Sad Jn Hatch mark Ambr Towers Thos Sewell Jn May )
