this indenture made 10.11.1736 witnesseth that mr Oliver Johnson and mr Jn Hatch churchwardens and Sam Smith and Thos King overseers of Earls Colne with the consent of justices of the peace have placed Wm Walker a poor child of the parish apprentice to Jn Buck (may be Jn Buck) of Great Coggeshall bayweaver with him to dwell from this day until the age of twenty four years (now aged 17years) during which time he will serve his master etc and Jn Buck (may be Jn Buck) covenants to instruct the apprentice in the art of bay weaving and will lodge and feed him and indemnify the parishioners from all charges and at the end of the term will provide double apparel et c mark Jn Buck (may be Jn Buck) witnesses Geo Fromont Sam Burton justices of the peace Rich Wale Robt Tweed
