in the name of god amen the 28.3.1575 I Thos Bridge of Earls Colne in the county of Essex yeoman sick of body but perfect of memory thanks be given to god do make and ordain my last will and testament in manner and form following first I bequeath my soul to almighty god the father and to jesus christ his son my redeemer trusting to be saved by his precious death and bloodshed for me and for all mankind and by no other means or ways item I will my body to be buried in the churchyard of Colne aforesaid item I give unto Thos Bridge the elder my son all my lands and tenements whatsoever with this condition that he shall pay yearly to Agnes my wife 40s yearly during her natural life and also shall pay unto my son Jn Bridge 20li of lawful money at his age of 21yr and also shall pay unto my son Thos Bridge the younger 20li of lawful money at his age of 21yr and also shall pay unto Agnes Bridge my daughter 20li of lawful money at her age of 18yr all which aforesaid sums of money I do give unto them by this my last will and testament and therefore I have made a surrender of all my aforesaid lands unto my aforesaid son Thos Bridge the elder and to this only end and intent and if it shall fortune any of my said children to die before they come to their several ages as aforesaid then I will either and every of them living shall be others heir to enjoy the same portion or portions so given and if it happen all my said children to die before their ages aforesaid then I will my said son Thos Bridge the elder shall pay Agnes my wife 20li item I give and bequeath unto Jn Bridge my son four silver spoons at the age of 21yr and to Thos Bridge my son the younger four silver spoons at the age of 21yr and to Agnes Bridge my daughter four silver spoons at her age of 18yr either of them to be others heir and if they all die before their several ages then I will Agnes my wife shall have the same spoons with whom I leave all the said spoons to be delivered item I give unto Thos Bridge the elder that my lease of a little croft called St Mary Croft with a stable and a little piece of a yard thereto belonging to this end that he shall pay unto Thos Pullen all such money as is due unto him from me by reason of my executorship of his late father deceased and herewithal I give unto my said son all such sums of money and bonds as I have from Purcas of Coggeshall with whom the said Thos Pullen is apprentice to help to pay the said Thos Pullen his said due item I will that Agnes my wife shall deliver unto the said Thos Pullen one dozen of silver spoons and one standing silver salt with a cover parcel quilt one featherbed with a bolster two pillows two pillowbers one pair of sheets one pair of blankets one coverlet a bedstead a white tester three curtains of red and green say which were given unto the said Thos Pullen by his late father all the rest of my goods and debts except before excepted I give unto Agnes my wife as well jewels plate apparel household stuff utensils and all other things whatsoever and hereby I make my son Thos Bridge the elder my sole executor charging him in the obedience of a son to the father and as he will answer before god at the dreadful day of doom to see this my last will and testament performed fulfilled and kept item I give unto my said son Thos Bridge the elder one bill of 13li6s8d wherein Jn Fynch of Gaynes Colne stands bound to pay me the same 18.5.next coming this bill I give to my said son to help to discharge Thos Pullen as aforesaid item I give unto my mother one cow to be delivered to her at annunciation.next coming and if she die before I give my son Thos Bridge the elder the same cow in witness of this my last will and testament I have set my hand and seal in the presence of Robt Pyerson Jn Barrett Rich Er# Albon Bridge Thos Culverton Thos Turner
