in the name of god amen the 8.11.1619 etc. I Jn Prentice of Earls Colne in the county of Essex yeoman and in the diocese of London being sick in body but of perfect memory do ordain and make this my present testament and will declaring therein and thereby my last will and mind in manner and form following first I commend my soul into the hands of almighty god my creator with an assured trust and confidence of eternal life and salvation through the death merit and passion of jesus christ my saviour and redeemer and for those worldly goods the which it hath pleased almighty god of his goodness to bless me withal item I give and bequeath unto Eliz Prentice my wife my freehold house wherein I now dwell with all the yards barns and stables with the appurtenances thereunto belonging until such time as Jn Prentice my now son do come to the lawful age of 21yr item I give and bequeath also unto Eliz my wife all my household stuff of what kind or sort soever item I give and bequeath unto Jn Prentice my son and to his heirs all those my lands both free and copy the which are lying and being in the parish aforesaid and if it shall happen that that child the which my said wife doth think she is withal at this instant or at this time at the witnessing# hereof that then I do give and bequeath unto that said child be it boy or girl the full and entire sum of 40li of good and lawful money of England to be paid by my son Jn Prentice his heirs or assigns out of the said lands at the full age of 21yr and also my will and mind is that my executors shall peaceably and quietly enter all these my lands and pastures without any strife or waste making for and towards the paying of my debts until which time as my said son shall come to the full age of 21yr and the remainder overplus of my said lands my mind is that my wife shall have towards the bringing up of my child or children and for and towards their maintenance the rest of my movable goods and personal rights I give and bequeath unto my executors to see my debts paid and to see my body decently buried in christian burial and I do ordain and make Wm Prentice my brother and Clem Turner my father in law my sole executors to see this my last will and testament fully accomplished and performed and I do make my honest friend Jn Read of Earls Colne in the county aforesaid yeoman to be my supervisor to see this my will mind and testament fully and wholly discharged according to the true meaning hereof and I do give and bequeath him for his pains 6s8d of good and lawful money of England in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year first above mentioned that these words were interlined before the ensealing hereof and the remainder and overplus of my said lands my mind is that my now wife shall have towards the bringing up of my child or children for and towards their maintenance mark Jn Prentice signed sealed and published in the presence of us witnesses mark Thos Turner mark Edw Tayler Jn Read scriptor
