in the name of god amen the 15.7.1661 etc. I Mehetbell Hurrell now of Earls Colne in the county of Essex singlewoman one of the daughters of Wm Hurrell of Ashen or otherwise called Esse in the said county clerk deceased do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following and I do herein and hereby utterly renounce and revoke all and every other will and wills by me heretofore made whatsoever first and principally I commit and commend my soul into the merciful hands of almighty god the father my creator and to jesus christ his forever blessed son my only redeemer and to the holy ghost my comforter and my body to the earth from whence it was taken to be decently buried in the chancel belonging to the parish church of Earls Colne aforesaid according to my degree and for that part and portion of worldly goods wherewith it hath pleased god out of his free favour and love to endow me withal herein this transitory life I do give and bequeath as followeth imprimis I give and bequeath unto my loving sister Marthamur Hurrell and to her heirs and assigns forever all my freehold messuages houses lands tenements and hereditaments whatsoever both freehold and copyhold situate lying and being in Little Hadham in the county of Hertford with all and singular every of their appurtenances by whatsoever name or names the same or any part or parcel thereof now are or at any time heretofore hath been called containing by estimation 18a more or less as the same are all now in the tenure and occupation of Rich Goodson or of his assigns item I give and bequeath unto Ralph Josseline clerk and to Jane his wife each of them a ribbon and a pair of gloves also I give to Francis Biat of the same town draper to either of them a ribbon and a pair of gloves and to his wife also I give to Wm Harlakenden esq a ribbon and a pair of gloves also I give to Nath Wenden of Wakes Colne physician a ribbon and a pair of gloves also I give to Clare Syday and his now wife to either of them a pair of gloves and a ribbon also I give to old Halls and his wife and to young goodman Halls and to goodwife Branwood all of Writtle in the said county gloves and ribbons also I give to Edw Newton and to Alice Markham of Earls widow and to Grace her daughter and to Grace Smith and Hen Thompson to every one of them a pair of gloves and a ribbon I also give to Ann Hayward of Colne Engaine singlewoman a pair of gloves and a ribbon also I give to Edw Potter's daughter of Earls Colne aforesaid called Mary Potter a ribbon and a pair of gloves also I give to the four maidens that shall carry my body to be buried a pair of gloves and a ribbon to every one of them all the rest of my goods whatsoever or wheresoever unbequeathed my debts and legacies being paid and my body decently buried I do give and bequeath unto Marthamur my said sister whom I do make and ordain to be my only sole executrix to this my last will and testament in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day month and year above written sealed acknowledged published and declared to be her last will and testament in the presence of us Wm Adams scrivener Robt Potter jun mark Mehetabell Hurrell
