1681 whereas Abrm Vangaver of Langham in the county of Essex saymaker and Martha Allen of Earls Colne in the aforesaid county widow having propounded their intentions of marriage unto several meetings of the people of god called quakers in Coggeshall and Earls Colne and the said meetings having made inquiry concerning them and finding them clear and free from all other persons and nothing appearing to hinder their proceedings in their said intentions of marriage the said meetings gave their consent in the matter these are therefore to certify all whom it doth or may concern that for the full accomplishment of their said intentions the said Abrm Vangaver and Martha Allen did come into out public meeting place in Earls Colne aforesaid upon th 7.4.1681 and in a public assembly then and there meet in our presence did signify their then taking each other in marriage pronouncing these words following with an audible voice viz the said Abrm Vangaver taking the said Martha Allen by the hand said friends in a sense of god's blessed presence and before you his people I do take Martha Allen to be my wife and do here promise to live with her as a loving and tender husband till the lord shall separate us by death and the said Martha taking the said Abrm by the hand said in the fear of the lord and before you his people I take this my friend Abrm Vangaver to be my husband and I do promise to be unto him a loving faithful and true wife until it please god to separate us by death and as a further confirmation thereof the parties abovenamed have hereunto set their hands and we who were present have signed it as witnesses Abrm Vangaver Martha Allen Abrm Vangaver Splendin Rand Jacob Vole Wm Bently Dan Groom Jas Potter Jn Garritt Wm Kent Geo Weatherly Thos Baron Robt Ludgater sen Thos Wright Wm Newman Jn Crow Edw Mines Jn Pattrick Thos London Joseph Sewell Jn Fryitt Mary Vangaver Sarah Rand Susanna Potter Rebecca Ball Ann Burton Mary Wright Mary Ludgater Susanna London Martha King Gartruyd Nixen Mary Vole Mary Weatherly Dorithy Crisp etc
