whereas Jn Bryant of Colchester in the county of Essex woolcomber and Susanna Hales of Fearing in the county aforesaid propounded their intentions of marriage unto several meetings of the people of god called quakers in Halstead and Coggeshall Magna and the said meetings having made inquiry concerning them and finding them clear and free from all other persons and nothing appearing to hinder their proceedings in their said intentions of marriage the said meetings gave their consent in the matter these are therefore to certify all whom it doth or may concern that for the full accomplishment of their said intentions of marriage the said Jn Bryant and Susanna Hales did did (sic) come into our public meeting place in Kelvedon in the county aforesaid upon the 25.12.1682 and in a public assembly then and there met in our presence did signify their then taking each other i n marriage pronouncing these words following with an audible voice viz the said Jn Bryant taking the said Susanna by the hand said friends I Jn Bryant in the fear of the lord take Susanna Hales to be my wife and I promise to live with her in the fear of the lord until he separate us by death then the said Susanna taking the said Jn by the hand said friends I Susanna Hales take Jn Bryant to be my husband and do promise to be unto him a loving and tender wife until the lord separate us by death and for the better confirmation of this their said (marriage) the parties have hereunto subscribed their names and we who were then present were witnesses that they were so married Jn Bryant Susanna Hales Gervas Simson Benj Hall Solomon Formantell Geo Weatherley Hen Havens sen Jn Raven Thos Stammers Jn Deledike Edw Mines Phil Richmond Hen Havens jun Easter Freeborn Emlin Simpson Susanna Richmond Mary Barker sen Eliz Matthew Grace Sanders Susanna Raven Eliz Candler Mary Cockerton Ellinor Page Sarah Sanders
