whereas Wm Ashpoole of Coggeshall Magna in the county of Essex clothworker son of Wm Ashpoole deceased in the county aforesaid and Anna Pemberton daughter of Rich Pemberton of the same town and county aforesaid clothworker propounded their intentions of marriage unto several meetings of the people of god called quakers in Coggeshall and Earls Colne and the said meetings having made inquiry concerning them and finding them clear and free from all other persons and nothing appearing to hinder their proceedings in their said intentions of marriage the said meetings gave their consent in the matter these are to certify all whom it doth may (sic) concern that for the full accomplishment of their said intentions the said Wm Ashpoole and Anna Pemberton did come into our public meeting place in Coggeshall Magna the 3.1.1683 and in an public assembly then and there met in our presence did signify their then taking each other in marriage pronouncing these words following with an audible voice viz the said Wm Ashpoole taking the said Anna Pemberton by the hand said friends I Wm Ashpoole take Anna Pemberton to be my wife in the presence of the lord and before you his people and do promise to be a loving and tender husband unto her until death separate then Anna taking Wm by the hand said friends I Anna Pemberton take Wm Ashpoole to be my husband in the presence of the lord to (be) a loving and tender wife unto him until death separate and for the better confirmation of this their said marriage the parties have hereunto first subscribed their names and we who were then present are witnesses that they were so married Wm Ashpoole Anna Ashpoole Rich Pemberton sen Robt Ludgater sen Geo Harvey Robt Yardley Wm Cooke Xoph Hawkings Joseph Drywood Jn Drywood Jn Fryitt Geo Guyon Thos Purcass Mark Cowell Wm Ludgater Jn Ludgater Jon Bowle Jn Garrit Math Dellow Rich Sewell Sarah Pemberton Eliz Fryitt Eliz Maning Mary Hawkings Judith Guyon Mary Ludgater Ann Cooke Ann Drywood Martha Guyon Eliz Chandler etc
