whereas Jon Gosling of Much Tey and Judith Gardner of Great Coggeshall both in the county of Essex did propound their intentions of marriage at two several meeting of the people of god called quakers in Halsted and Coggeshall in the county aforesaid and the meetings having made inquiry concerning them a (sic) finding them clear and free from all other persons and nothing appearing to hinder their said intentions of marriage the said meetings gave their consent in to it these are therefore to certify all people whom it doth or may concern that for the full accomplishment of their said intentions of marriage the said Jon Gosling and Judith Gardner aforesaid did come into our public meeting house upon the 20.6.1689 and in a public assembly then and there met in our presence did signify their then taking e ach other in marriage pronouncing these words following with an audible voice viz the said Jon Gosling taking the said Judith by the hand said friends I desire you to bear witness I Jon Gosling take Judith Gardner to be my wife to be unto her a loving and tender husband until the lord shall separate us by death then the said Judith Gardner taking the said Jon by the hand said friends in the fear of the lord I Judith Gardner take this my friend Jon Gosling to be my husband promising to be unto him a loving and tender wife until the lord please to separate us by death and for the further confirmation of this their said marriage the parties above named have hereunto first subscribed their own names and we who were then and there present are witnesses that they were so married Jon Gosling Judith Gardner Jn Gosling Ed Gardner Hen Porter Clem Howell Robt Ludgater jun Robt Yardly Jn Ludgater Jn Jenkins Sam Clarke Jn Garritt Sarah Gardner Susan Gosling Sarah York Judith Houson Sarah Clarke Ann Cooke Mary Ludgater etc
