Mary Hannah Ruffle and Sarah wife of G. Newman Stuttor - a house and premises thus described in the rental of 1751 " Sparrow holds by free deed a messuage on Cageford Hill fronting the road and abutting on the churchyard west ". This was purchased many years ago by Mary the widow of Robt Tiffin and left to her daughters and grandchildren - the Ruffle family - Free tenure has not been acknowledged in the rolls but the rent is regularly paid

469 (469) This is an enclosure from the waste on Cageford Hill adjoining to St Mary Croft and abutting on the road - as the top of the causeway nearly opposite the free tenement - I know not when it was attached to the house. Being contiguous and all in the same family I have given the above sketch of the free and copy together
Terrier fo. 23 1598 the heirs of Jn Traser claim to hold by free deed one tenement with a backside sometime a tennis court containing 30p - and also one orchard lying by St Mary's Croft containing 35p
