whereas at a view here held saturday being 23.9.1580 Edw Clemens was admitted tenant of the lord for himself and his heirs to one parcel of two tenements lying together in Holte St sometime of Jn Johnson and afterwards of Robt Game between a tenement late of Thos Hutton on one part and a tenement late of Thos Bridge on the other part one head thereof abutting upon a garden of the said Thos Hutton and the other head thereof abutting upon the king's highway there and whereas also at the same court the aforesaid Edw Clemens was admitted tenant of the lord for himself and his heirs to one purpresture or small parcel of waste ground of the lord for building a certain chimney next to the aforesaid tenement lying in Holte St containing in length about 12ft as assessed and in length about 4ft and whereas furthermore at a court here held friday being 18.8. (regnal year not given) the aforesaid Edw Clements was also admitted tenant of the lord to one small piece or parcel of curtilage pertaining to the said tenement called The Midle House late of Agnes Welles containing in length 24ft as assessed and in breadth 22ft and adjoining the curtilage then at that time pertaining to the tenement of the said Edw Clemens now it is shown by the homage that the aforesaid Edw Clemens out of this court and after the last court surrendered all and singular the premises with appurtenances into the hands of the lord by the hands of Wm Dashe in the presence of Robt Reade and Robt Crowe customary tenants of the lord the same testifying according to the custom of the said manor to the use and behoof of Geo Hammonde and Mary his wife and their heirs and assigns forever to whom the same said Geo Hammonde and Mary his wife the lord by his steward granted seisin thereof to have to the same said Geo and Mary and their heirs and assigns forever to hold from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the said manor by the rents and services thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and he gave to the lord his fine as is shown in the margin
