whereas at a court here held 15.4.1596 Frances and Margt daughters and heirs of Xoph Halle were admitted to one tenement with curtilage adjoining called Greenes Tenement in the said Colne and to one garden sometime parcel of one tenement called Jakes lying between a tenement late of Hen Pullen called Campions and the said tenement called Jakes as divided and shown by the metes and bounds now at this court it is presented by the homage that the aforesaid Frances died several years ago without heirs of her body and that the aforesaid Margt now wife of Fulk Cartmell survived and is living upon which in this full court the aforesaid Margt and Fulk in the right of the said Margt sought for the said Margt admittance to the half of the said premises of the said Frances to whom the same said Margt the lord by his steward granted seisin of the said premises with appurtenances to hold to herself and her heirs from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the said manor by the rents and services thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and she gave to the lord her fine and made fealty and was admitted thereof tenant and afterwards the court sitting in full the said Fulk and Margt and Margt herself solely and secretly examined by the said steward and acknowledged surrendered into the hands of the lord by the hands of his steward all the said tenement with curtilage adjoining and the said garden sometime parcel of the tenement Jakes to the use and behoof of Robt Davy and Kath his wife and the heirs of Kath herself to whom the same said Robt and Kath the lord by his steward granted seisin of the said premises with appurtenances to hold to the aforesaid Robt and Kath and the heirs of Kath herself forever from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the said manor and by the services thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and she gave to the lord her fine as is shown in the margin and they were admitted tenants but fealty was respited
