it is also shown by the homage that Robt Rookes before this court and after the last court surrendered into the hands of the lord by the hands of Jas Nicholl instead of the bailiff in the presence of Barth Clarke and Jn Clarke two customary tenants the same testifying according to the custom of the said manor all that croft of land with one barn built upon it called Oliver Croft containing by estimation about 2a which same said croft the aforesaid Robt Rookes took for himself and his heirs at a court held for the said manor 17.1.9Jas1 by the surrender of Jn Clarke to the use and behoof of Susanna Bridge now wife of Wm Bridge of Wortham Suffolk yeoman and the heirs of the aforesaid Susanna forever to whom the same said Susannah by Jas Nicholl in the role of her deputy the lord by his said steward granted and delivered seisin thereof by the rod to have for herself and her heirs and assigns forever to hold from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the said manor by the rents customs and services thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and the aforesaid Susanna gave to the lord for a fine as is shown etc and was admitted etc but her fealty was respited etc
