it is shown by the homage that Jn Hatch out of court namely 2.5.1625 surrendered into the hands of the lord by the hands of Jn Read instead of the bailiff in the presence of Barth Clarke and Jn Clarke two customary tenants the same testifying according to the custom of the said manor one garden with appurtenances called or known by the name of Masons now in the occupation of Maurice Biford to the use and behoof of Sam Burton and his heirs upon this condition however that if the aforesaid Jn Hatch his heirs executors administrators or assigns should pay or cause to be paid to the said Sam his executors of administrators the full sum of 6li in or at the now dwelling house of the said Sam in the said Earls Colne in or on 3.4.1626 without deceit or further delay then this present surrender should be void and have no force in law otherwise it should stand in full force and effect etc
