at this court it is shown by the homage that Margery Pennock widow and Wm Pennock son of the said Margery customary tenants of the manor after the last court and before this court viz on the 2.11.1631 surrendered to the lord by the hands of Jn Read instead of the bailiff in the presence of Edw Potter and Jn Brownson two customary tenants of the said manor according to the custom of the said manor one tenement or customary cottage known by the name of the Wine Tavern or by what ever other name it is known and now in the tenure of Margery Pennock or her assigns to the use of Wm Brand of Earls Colne yeoman and his heirs on the condition that the said Margery and Wm Pennock or either of them or their heirs executors or administrators or any of them pay or cause to be paid to the said Wm Brand his heirs executors or assigns 7li on or by 3.11.1632 in or at the mansion house of Rich Harlakenden esq called Colne Priory or if they pay the 7li satisfactorily in any other way then this surrender will be void and null
