and furthermore whereas at a view of frankpledge with court baron here held 23.4.1622 Barth Clarke and his wife Jane were admitted tenants of the lord to themselves and the heirs of the said Barth to one rentary messuage or cottage with appurtenances late Wm Brome now at this court it is shown by the homage that the said Jane after the said court and before this court died and that the said Barth after the last general court and before this court viz 16.3.1636 surrendered into the hands of the lord by the hands of Jas Pennocke instead of the bailiff in the presence of Jn Reade and Jn Clarke two customary tenants of the said manor according to the customs of the said manor the said cottage and other premises and all buildings orchards and gardens pertaining to the said messuage with appurtenances to the use and behoof of Rich Walker of Maplestead Essex yeoman his heirs and assigns forever who present in court humbly sought admittance to whom the lord by the said steward granted and delivered seisin by the rod to have the said cottage and other premises with appurtenances to himself and his heirs and assigns forever to hold from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the customs of the said manor by the rents services and customs thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and he gave to the lord his fine and made fealty and was admitted tenant
