and furthermore at this court it is shown by the homage that Rich Rooke customary tenant of this manor after the last court and before this court viz 18.3.1636 surrendered into the hands of the lord by the hands of Jas Pennocke instead of the bailiff in the presence of Jn Read and Jn Clarke two customary tenants of the said manor according to the customs of the said manor one messuage taken from a messuage called Jouldens and all buildings barns stables orchards and gardens pertaining to the said messuage with appurtenances now in the tenure of Barth Clarke or his assigns and a free way through the gate and into and through the place for himself his servants ploughs horses carts and wagons to be in his tenure from this time henceforward and a way to the pump hither and a right to draw water by the right of possession of the said Barth h is heirs and assigns henceforward for all time to the use and behoof of the said Barth Clarke his heirs and assigns who present in court humbly sought admittance to whom the lord by the said steward granted and delivered seisin by the rod to have the said messuage and other premises with appurtenances to the said Barth Clarke his heirs and assigns forever to hold from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the customs of the said manor by the rents services and customs thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and he gave the lord his fine and made fealty and was admitted tenant
