and furthermore whereas at a court here held 8.4.1613 Rich Kempe was admitted tenant of the lord for himself and his heirs to one cottage with adjoining garden with appurtenances called Oldhall lying at the end of the village of Earls Colne according as it is delimited and shown by the metes and boundaries according as it is clearly shown by the said court roll now at this court it is shown by the homage that the said Rich Kempe after the last court and before this court viz 27.12.1636 surrendered into the hands of the lord by the hands of Edw Clerke instead of the bailiff in the presence of Edw Cressner and Jn Read two customary tenants of the said manor according to the customs of the said manor the said cottage and garden with barn pertaining in the tenure of Dan Lea or Jn Bowles or their assigns to the use and behoof of Thos Osborne of Earls Colne husbandman his heirs and assigns forever who present in court humbly sought admittance to whom the lord by the said steward granted and delivered seisin by the rod to have to himself and his heirs forever to hold from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the customs of the said manor by the rents services and customs thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and he gave to the lord his fine etc
