whereas at a court here held 12.7.1664 it was shown by the homage that Jn Pennocke customary tenant of the said manor after the then last court viz 7.6.1663 surrendered into the hands of the lord by the hands of Edw Haxall instead of the bailiff and in the presence of Robt Potter and Wm Adams two customary tenants of the said manor the same testifying etc one messuage or tenement parcel of Masons and a courtyard and garden pertaining to the said messuage lying on the northern and eastern parts of the said messuage between the cemetery of Earls Colne church and the king's highway leading from the said Earls Colne towards Halstead to the use and behoof of Ann Christmas widow and her heirs and assigns forever but the said Ann did not come now to this court came the said Ann now the wife of Jn Bond and sought admittance as tenant of the lord for the premises to whom the lord by the said steward granted and delivered seisin thereof by the rod to have and to hold the said premises with appurtenances to the said Ann her heirs and assigns forever from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the said manor by the rents services and customs thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and she gave to the lord her fine etc
