fine 3s4d under new condition at this court Wm Atte Wod out of court languishing in extremis surrendered into the hands of Jn Turnor bailiff of this manor in the presence of Roger Deynes Jn Ascheford and other of the lord's tenants the same testifying and swearing three cottages with three curtilages adjoining which were sometime of Jn Stepvene Jn Skynnere and Steph Bury to the use of Xian who was lately the wife of Wm who was joint purchaser of the aforesaid three cottages with three curtilages to hold to the same said Xian for her lifetime and after the decease of the said Xian the aforesaid three cottages with three curtilages to remain to Jn and Jn sons of the aforesaid Wm and Xian to hold to the same said Jn and Jn their heirs and assigns from the lord at the will of the lord by the ancient services and customs etc saving the right etc upon this condition however that the aforesaid Jn and Jn should pay or cause to be paid the debts of the said Wm well and faithfully and if it should be the pleasure of the said Jn and Jn their heirs and attorneys to sell the reversion of the aforesaid three cottages with the three curtilages and with the monies thereof issuing to pay the debts of the said Wm and to dispose of the residue for their souls and in other works of charity if it should please by the lord's licence to hold to the same said Jn and Jn their heirs and assigns from the lord at the will of the lord for by the ancient services and customs etc and upon the aforesaid condition if it should please the same etc and they gave to the lord fora fine etc and made fealty etc
