Robt Reade came here to this court in his own proper person and acknowledged himself to hold of the lord freely by deed one tenement called late Jn Mallarie's in which the same Robt now dwelleth in the town of Earls Colne by fealty suit of court and rent of 8d by the year and showed a copy to him made at the court with the leet here holden in 10Eliz1 by which he claimeth to hold of the lord as of this manor by virtue of the surrender of Rich Rolte son and heir of Thos Rolte one croft or pasture inclosed containing in it 8a or more or less and one other croft or close of arable land containing 4a more etc and also one meadow containing 2a more or less then in the occupation of Jn Finche by the assignment of Thos Bridge and Albon Bridge farmers thereof and parcel of certain land and meadows lying within this manor in the town of Earls Colne aforesaid by fealty suit of court and rent of 12s by the year and he is sworn of the homage
