fine 6li13s4dat a view with court here held on saturday 9.6.35Eliz1 Rich Underwood was admitted tenant to himself and his heirs of the surrender of Robt Litherland to one tenement with a garden adjoining with appurtenances belonging called Goulds Gate as by metes and bounds is plainly divided and shown and also to three crofts of land called Walfields lying in Colne aforesaid with appurtenances as by metes and bounds divided and shown by the roll of the court here shown now it appears to the homage aforesaid that after the last court and out of court viz 31.5.38Eliz1 the aforesaid Rich Underwood surrendered all and singular the premises with appurtenances into the hands of the lord by the hands of Wm Adams instead of the bailiff in the presence of Jn Grene and Robt Rookes two customary tenants of this manor witnessing according to the custom of the manor aforesaid to the use and work of Geo Pilgrim of Earls Colne and his heirs with a proviso following that if the aforesaid Rich Underwood his heirs executors or assigns pay or cause to be paid to the aforesaid Geo Pilgrim his executors or assigns the sum of 70li at or before the feast of easter next following after the date of th is surrender at or in the now dwelling house of the said Geo Pilgrim situate in Earls Colne aforesaid that then this present surrender will be void and of no effect otherwise to stand in full force and effect which Geo Pilgrim present here in court is granted seisin of the premises to have to himself and his heirs of the lord by the rod to the will of the lord according to the custom of the manor aforesaid by rents and services and customs before due and of right accustomed and made the lord fine and fealty and is admitted thereof tenant
