this indenture made the 23.6.1729 between Jas Bullerd of Earls Colne in the county of Essex gardener of the one part and Thos Lake of Rivenhall in the said county yeoman of the other part witnesseth that the said Jas Bullerd for and in consideration of the sum of 5s of lawful money of Great Britain to him in hand paid by the said Thos Lake and before the sealing and delivery hereof the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged and for divers other good causes and considerations him thereto moving hath bargained and sold and by these presents doth bargain and sell unto the said Thos Lake his executors and administrators all those two pieces or parcels of land or pasture ground with their appurtenances lying and being in Earls Colne aforesaid and containing both together by estimation 1a1r the same more or less together with a messuage or tenement and several outhouses thereupon lately erected and built one of the said parcels lieth between the garden formerly of Laurance Prior and before that the grounds of Thos Harrison (may be Thos Harrison) and Geo Chatterton on the one part and the lands or garden of Thos Prior on the other part and upon the lands or garden formerly of Rich Rookes on the part of the north another part thereof abutteth upon a certain way called Park Land on the part of the west and upon the lands formerly of Rose Church and Steph Champeny on the part of the east and upon the lands called Bearcroft on the part of the south and also all that pightle or parcel of freehold ground lately parcel of Gilberts containing by estimation 1a more or less lying and being in Earls Colne aforesaid and abutting upon the lands called Bearcroft formerly belonging to Thos Allen and Agnes Biston widow on the part of the south also another part thereof abuts upon the gardens or orchards of Geo Garrard in part and Jn Orvice in part on the part of the north the king's highway leading towards the west and also all that freehold croft of land or pasture ground formerly called Bearcrofts and now called or known by the name of Windmill Field whereupon a windmill lately stood or by whatsoever other name or names the same be called or known containing by estimation 1a more or less lying in Earls Colne aforesaid between the lands formerly of the earl of Oxford and parcel of Bearcroft towards the east and a chase or driftway leading from Earls Colne aforesaid towards the park there on the west one head thereof abutting upon the lands sometime of one Robt Rookes towards the north and the other head thereof abutting upon a certain drift or chaseway leading from Bearcroft aforesaid towards the south and also one piece or parcel of marsh or meadow ground heretofore called Spriggs Marsh and now called or known by the name of Wren's Park containing by estimation 1r more or less lying in Earls Colne aforesaid all which messuage or tenement pieces or parcels of land meadow pasture ground and premises formerly were in the tenure or occupation of Jn Sparrow and now are or late were in the tenure or occupation of the said Jas Bullerd his assignee or assigns and all other the freehold lands tenements and hereditaments whatsoever of the said Jas Bullerd situate lying and being in Earls Colne aforesaid and the reversion and reversions remainder and remainders together with the rents issues and profits thereof and every part and parcel thereof to have and to hold the messuage or tenement lands meadows pastures marsh grounds and all and singular other the premises herein mentioned and intended to be hereby bargained and sold with their appurtenances unto the said Thos Lake his executors administrators and assigns from the day next before the day of the date hereof unto the full end and term of one whole year from thence next ensuing and fully to be complete and ended yielding and paying therefore unto the said Jas Bullerd his heirs and assigns the rent of one peppercorn only on the feast day of michaelmas if the same be lawfully demanded to the intent and purpose that by virtue of these presents and by force of the statute for transferring uses into possession the said Thos Lake may be in the actual possession of the said premises and may be thereby enabled to accept a grant and release of the reversion and inheritance thereof to him and his heirs to the only use and behoof of him the said Thos Lake his heirs and assigns forever in witness whereof the parties first above named have to these present indentures interchangeably set their hands and seals the day and year first above written
