in the name of god amen the 22.2.1598 I Benet Watson of Earls Colne in the county of Essex labourer being sick in body but of perfect mind and remembrance thanks be given to god do make and ordain this my testament containing therein my last will first I commit my soul to god the father the son and the holy ghost and my body to the earth from whence it came to be decently buried in the churchyard of Earls Colne imprimis I do give and bequeath unto my son Edw Watson my tenement with the appurtenances thereunto belonging situate and being in Hole Street also my will and meaning is that my son Edw shall let my mother have her dwelling where she is now term of her life and that my son Edw and my daughter Marge shall pay unto my said mother during her life 10s every year to be paid by 2s6d the quarter item I do give unto my daughter Marge the house late in the tenure of Thos Allen and to the heirs of her body lawfully begotten and for want of issue to remain unto Eliz Bleake the daughter of Mich Bleake also I do give and bequeath unto Edw my son and Marge my daughter all my movable goods whatsoever equally to be divided betwixt them also it is my will that they shall pay all my debts also I do give unto my son in law Mich Bleake 5li of good lawful english money to paid within one year next after my decease also I do ordain and make Edw Watson my son my sole and only executor to this my last will and testament in witness whereof I have put my hand and seal the day and year first above written Benet Watson sealed signed and delivered in the presence of us Robt Rookes Robt Knyght Eliachim Ive by me Franc Hampton scriptor
