There were three ponds belonging to the hall or mansion of the Earls of Oxford which stood on the south of Park Lane near the entrance called Hall Green - on 8.10.1613 a lease was granted for 1000 years and the annual rent of 2d - by Rich Harlakenden to Edw Potter - of parcel of the pond bottoms, the lease does not specify the quantity, but there are certain covenants as to keeping the water in its proper channels etc. The lease is in my possession H.H.C. 1854
