whereas at a view with court here held 20.10.1625 Sam Burton senior was admitted tenant of the lord for himself and his heirs to one tenement with garden adjoining called Muggs alias Princes situated and lying in Colne St viz between a tenement called The George on the eastern part and a tenement late of Barth Church called Tredgolds on the western part now at this court it is shown by the homage that after the last court and before this court viz 28.8.1637 the aforesaid Sam Burton surrendered in the hands of the lord by the hands of Robt Potter instead of the bailiff in the presence of Edw Elliston gentleman a customary tenant of the aforesaid manor and Edw Spooner senior the same testifying the aforesaid tenement called Muggs alias Princes with appurtenances in which Edw Newton now lives to the use and behoof of his last will and testament and that afterwards viz the said 28.8.1637 as above mentioned the aforesaid Sam Burton committed his last will and testament in writing and by that same last will gave and bequeathed the aforesaid tenement with garden with appurtenances to Ann Burton his wife for her lifetime and after her decease the remainder thereof to Rich Burton son of the said Sam and his heirs forever and afterwards he died thus seised thereof upon which came here into court the aforesaid Ann Burton and humbly sought admittance to whom the lord by the aforesaid steward granted and delivered thereof seisin by the rod to have and to hold the aforesaid tenement with garden with appurtenances to the aforesaid Ann for her lifetime and after her decease the remainder thereof in the aforesaid form from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the aforesaid manor by the rents services and customs thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and she gave to the lord her fine and made fealty and was admitted tenant
