Sarah Abbott to Matthewes Acre Olmested Croft Flamemans and Grapnells | to this court came Edw Hewson gentleman and Eliz his wife daughter and heir of Jn Lucas gentleman and Mary his wife deceased and late wife of Thos Ball senior deceased and the aforesaid Eliz first by the aforesaid steward solely and secretly examined as is the custom and consenting the aforesaid Edw and Eliz by the rod surrendered into the hands of the lord by the hands of his aforesaid steward one tenement and garden called Matthewes Acre and one piece of land with a well in the same late parcel of a tenement late of Thos Elmested and one croft of land called Olmested Croft with a barn built thereon now in the tenure and occupation of Jn Crow and one tenement with appurtenances called Flamemans and one garden called Grapnells with appurtenances now in the tenure and occupation of the said Jn Crowe and Abraham Christmas or either of them excepting and reserving to the lord of the aforesaid manor his heirs and assigns a way two carts in width between the aforesaid garden and messuage late of Barth Church which same said tenement and all and singular other premises the aforesaid Eliz after having recovery thereof among other things first took at this court for herself and her heirs to the use and behoof of Sarah Abbott fifth daughter of Hen Abbott of Earls Colne saymaker and the heirs and assigns of the said Sarah forever upon the good faith and trust however that if the aforesaid Hen should outlive Rose now his wife and the mother of the said Sarah and if the aforesaid Rose should die without heirs of her body by the said Hen procreated that from that time the heirs of the said Sarah should surrender the premises according to the custom of the aforesaid manor to the use and behoof of the said Hen his heirs and assigns upon which came here into court the aforesaid Sarah by the said Hen in the part of attorney and deputy and sought admittance as tenant of the lord to the premises to whom the same said Sarah by the hands of her aforesaid attorney and deputy the lord by the aforesaid steward granted and delivered thereof seisin by the rod to have and to hold the aforesaid tenement and all and singular the other premises with appurtenances to the aforesaid Sarah her heirs and assigns forever upon the good faith and aforesaid trust from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the aforesaid manor by the rents services and customs thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and he gave to the lord for a fine |
