whereas at a court here held thursday being 25.9.1606 Jn Catte was admitted tenant of the lord for himself and his heirs to one cottage with customary garden adjoining containing by estimation half a rood sometime Simon Ward's now at this court it is shown by the homage that out of this court and after the last court viz 24.12.1607 the said Jn Catte surrendered the said cottage and other premises with appurtenances into the hands of the lord by the hands of Wm Catte instead of the bailiff in the presence of Edw Catte and Thos Smithe also Bailie two customary tenants the same testifying according to the custom of the said manor to the use and behoof of Edw Brewer his heirs and assigns upon the condition that the said Edw Brewer his heirs executors administrators or assigns should pay or cause to be paid to a certain Thos Harlakenden gentleman his heirs executors or administrators 40s on 23.3.next following after the date of the said surrender upon which now to this court came the said Edw Brewer and sought admittance from the lord to the same cottage and other premises with appurtenances upon the said condition to whom the lord by his said steward granted seisin thereof to have to the same Edw Brewer his heirs and assigns upon the said conditions to hold from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the said manor by the rents and services thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and he gave to the lord his fine as is stated in the margin     and he was admitted thereof tenant of the lord
