and furthermore at this court it is shown by the homage that Steph Champney who held for himself and his heirs one messuage or tenement with appurtenances called Mordens and half of a parcel of land called Tollhouse Green as is clearly shown by the court roll bearing the date 11.6.1633 after the last court viz 11.4.1644 surrendered into the hands of the lord by the hands of Jn Reade junior instead of the bailiff and in the presence of Jn Reade senior and Robt Finch two customary tenants of the said manor all that said messuage or tenement and premises with appurtenances to the use and intention of his last will and that the said Steph Champney on the same date 11.4.1644 made his last will and testament in writing the tenor of which concerning the premises in the following words item I give and bequeath to Geo Mann son of Mann and Sarah my daughter and to the heirs of the said Geo Mann lawfully begotten forever all that my messuage or tenement called Mordens and the moiety of a parcel of ground called Tollhouse Green containing in length 6rod and in breadth 12ft and for want of such issue to the heirs of the said Sarah Mann forever item I give and bequeath to the said Sarah Mann my daughter all that east part of my tenement called Mordens where in she now dwelleth during her natural life and after her decease to the said Geo Mann her son and to his heirs forever and for want of such issue to the heirs of the said Sarah Mann forever as is clearly shown by the said testament brought into court and that same group of documents signed and proved under the seal of the ordinary and afterwards and before this court he died seised thereof upon which came here into court the said Geo Mann and Sarah Mann and humbly sought admittance according to the tenor of the said testament to whom the lord by the said steward granted and delivered seisin thereof by the rod to have and to hold the said eastern part of the said messuage in which the said Sarah lives to the said Sarah for her lifetime the remainder thereof to the said Geo Mann and his heirs and to have and to hold the said messuage or tenement except that said eastern part and the said parcel of land to the said Geo Mann and his heirs legitimately procreated according to the tenor and effect of the said testament from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the customs of the manor by the rents services and customs thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and he gave to the lord his fine but because the said Geo Mann is under age viz of the age of about 9yrs therefore custody of the body of the said Geo and of the said tenements was granted to Jn Reade the executor of the will of the said Steph until the said Geo is twenty four years according to the tenor and effect of the said will to the use and suggestions expressed and delimited in the said will and for such custody he gave to the lord his fine
