whereas at a court held for the said manor 28..1640# it was presented by the homage that Hen Cony did surrender into the hands of the lord by the hands of Mich Hayward in place of the lord's bailiff and in the presence of Wm Adams and Burton two customary tenants of the said manor all that his messuage upon Colnford Hill called Copes with the yard orchard garden and buildings to the same to the use of him the said Hen and Mary his wife and of the heirs of the upon condition that the said Mary within two years after the decease of the said Hen should pay to Jane Cony the daughter of the said Hen by a former wife 10li and at that court the admission of the said Hen and Mary was respited now at this court it was presented by the homage that since the last court the said Hen died and that Mary is yet living and because after proclamation thrice made according to the custom of the said manor the said Mary came not to be admitted therefore a precept was made to the bailiff of the said manor to seize the said premises into the lord's hands etc
