fine 20d condition to this court came Robt Segge and Wm Atte Wode and in full court surrendered into the hands of the lord one tenement and one croft of land with appurtenances whereof the aforesaid tenement lies between a tenement sometime of Jn Sonyngwell on one part and a messuage sometime of Jn Berneman on the other part one head abutting upon the king's highway leading from Colne towards Halstead and the aforesaid croft with appurtenances lying between a croft of Thos Hunte on one part and land of Robt Segge and Jn Wodeward on the other part one head abutting upon a croft which was sold by licence to the use of Jn Bon Jon otherwise Turnor and Alice his wife providing or making provision for Robt Mathew and Isabel his wife for their dwelling within the said tenement viz one lower room with a window adjoining the back door and also finding food drink and sufficient fuel for burning in their room afterwards the aforesaid Jn and Alice providing or causing to be provided for the aforesaid Robt and Isabel his wife clothes of linen and wool for their bodies whenever their own old clothes should wear out during their lifetime as they are needed and also paying or causing to be paid after the death of the aforesaid Robt and Isabel his wife to the aforesaid Robt Segge and Wm Atte Wode or their attorneys 7marks20d altogether in one year next following to whom the lord not at this court by his steward granted thereof seisin to hold to the same said Jn and Alice his wife their heirs and assigns from the lord at the will of the lord by ancient services and customs according to the custom of the manor saving the rights etc and if it should happen that the aforesaid Jn and Alice should default in any condition or in the aforesaid payment in part or in whole then it should truly be allowed to the aforesaid Robt and Wm or their attorney by licence of the lord to reenter into the said tenement with the aforesaid croft of land with appurtenances and to retain it in their previous estate this present surrender notwithstanding and the aforesaid Jn and Alice gave to the lord for a fine as shown in the margin and made fealty to the lord etc
