whereas at a court here held wednesday 19.4.40Eliz1 Agnes wife of Wm Paine and Mary wife of Geo Mowlde daughters of Jn Barrett late of Earls Colne aforesaid deceased were admitted tenants to themselves and their heirs to a messuage with a garden adjoining with appurtenances called Sonnellis as shown by metes and bounds etc now at this court came the aforesaid Wm Paine and Agnes his wife the said Agnes solely and secretly examined by the steward and surrendered into the hands of the lord by the hands of the steward aforesaid all her half purport and interest of and in the aforesaid messuage and garden with appurtenances to the work and use of the aforesaid Geo Mowlde his heirs and assigns forever who present in the court came and asked to be admitted and the lord by the steward granted seisin by the rod to have and to hold to himself and his heirs and assigns of the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the manor by the rents and services before due and of right accustomed and he gave the lord the fine as appears at the head and made fealty and was admitted tenant of the lord afterwards at this present court came the aforesaid Geo Mowlde and Mary his wife the said Mary solely and secretly examined by the steward surrendered into the hands of the lord by the steward the aforesaid messuage with garden adjoining with appurtenances called Sonnellis as is shown by metes and bounds to the work and use of Rose now the wife of Jn Church and her assigns for and during the term of the natural life of the said Rose the remainder after her decease to Jn Church son of the aforesaid Jn Church and Rose his wife and his heirs and assigns forever to which Rose present here in the court the lord by the steward granted seisin by the rod to have and to hold to the said Rose and her assigns during the term of the life of the said Rose to remain after as above of the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the manor aforesaid by the rents and services before due and of right accustomed and the aforesaid Rose gave the lord the fine as shown at the head and made fealty and was admitted thereof tenant
