whereas at a court here held wednesday 19.4.40Eliz1 Agnes wife of Wm Paine and Mary wife of Geo Mowlde daughters of Jn Barrett late of Earls Colne aforesaid deceased were admitted tenants of the lord to themselves and their heirs to 10a of customary land with appurtenances parcel of Lowfield as it is divided by a hedge and ditch from 6a of land parcel of the aforesaid land called Lowfield which said 6a of land lie on the south of the aforesaid 10a of land as is shown etc now at this court came the aforesaid Wm Paine and Agnes his wife and the said Agnes solely and secretly examined by the steward surrendered into the hands of the lord by the hands of the steward aforesaid her whole half purport and interest of and in the aforesaid 10a of land with appurtenances to the work and use of the aforesaid Geo Mowlde his heirs and assigns who present in the court came and asked to be admitted to whom the lord by the steward aforesaid granted seisin by the rod to have and to hold to himself and his heirs and assigns of the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the manor by the rents and services before due and of right accustomed and he gave the lord a fine as appears at the head and made fealty and was admitted thereof tenant of the lord and afterwards at this present court came the aforesaid Geo Mowlde and Mary his wife and the said Mary solely and secretly examined by the steward surrendered into the hands of the lord by the hands of the steward the aforesaid 10a of land with appurtenances to the work and use of Rose now wife of Jn Church and her assigns for and during the term of the natural life of the said Rose to remain after her decease to Barth Church son of the aforesaid Jn and Rose his wife and to his heirs and assigns forever to which Rose present here in court the lord by the steward aforesaid granted seisin by the rod to have and to hold to the said Rose and her assigns during the term of the natural life of the said Rose to remain as above etc of the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the manor by the rents and services before due and of right accustomed and she gave the lord the fine as is shown at the head and made fealty and was admitted thereof tenant of the lord
