whereas at a court here held wednesday 19.4.40Eliz1 Agnes wife of Wm Paine and Mary wife of Geo Mowlde daughters of Jn Barrett late of Earls Colne aforesaid deceased were admitted tenants to themselves and their heirs to one croft of customary land now commonly known as Little Bridgemans anciently in one croft enclosed now in two crofts enclosed as is shown by metes and bounds etc now at this court came the aforesaid Wm Paine and Agnes his wife the said Agnes solely and secretly examined by the steward and surrendered into the hands of the lord her aforesaid whole half purport and interest of and in the aforesaid croft of land with appurtenances to the work and use of the aforesaid Geo Mowlde and his heirs and assigns forever who came and asked to be admitted and the lord by the steward granted seisin by the rod to have to himself and his heirs and assigns of the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the manor by the rents services before due and of right accustomed and he gave the lord the fine as is sho wn a the head and made fealty and was admitted thereof tenant and afterwards at this present court came the aforesaid Geo Mowlde and Mary his wife and the said Mary solely and secretly examined by the steward surrendered into the hands of the lord by the hands of the steward the aforesaid croft of land called Little Bridgemans with appurtenances to the work and use of Rose wife of Jn Church and her heirs and assigns for and during the term of the natural life of the said Rose to remain after her decease to Jn Church son of the aforesaid Jn and Rose his wife and his heirs and assigns forever to which Rose present in court the lord by the steward granted seisin by the rod to have and to holds to the said Rose and her assigns during the term of the life of the said Rose to remain after her decease as above of the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the manor by the rents services before due and of right accustomed and she gave the lord a fine as appears at the head and made fealty and was admitted tenant
